1 minute read

The Patient Experience Survey by Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America shows that 51% of insured Americans are unsure about their prescription costs, and 38% are facing rising out-of-pocket expenses.

Increasing healthcare costs are burdening many insured Americans, with nearly half finding out-of-pocket expenses unaffordable. High deductibles, unaffordable copays, lack of coverage for necessary services, and costly coinsurance are key issues.

According to the survey, 1 in 3 patients struggle with prescription adherence due to high costs, leading many to skip doses, delay medication, or not complete their treatment.

The report unveiled significant hurdles that insured Americans encounter in the realm of healthcare coverage and affordability:

  • 28% of Americans feel that current insurance plans offer affordable healthcare access when needed
  • 52% are anxious about managing out-of-pocket expenses and insurance premiums in the coming year

Takeaway

Health care costs are a major concern for workers. Employers need to stay updated on the prescription drug market and assess how their health plan choices impact their workforce. Download the bulletin for more details.
