President Trump unveiled the launch of TrumpRx.gov, a federal website designed to help individuals purchase prescription medications at discounted cash prices. The site highlights savings on 43 of the most popular and highest-priced medicines in the country including GLP-1s, asthma, and infertility medications. The website does not sell or dispense drugs but rather provides discount coupons and instructions for accessing each medication through participating providers.
This launch includes drugs from the first five manufacturers to sign the most-favored-nation (MFN) pricing agreements with the Trump administration: AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, EMD Serono, Novo Nordisk, and Pfizer. Additional drugs from 11 more participating companies will be added to the website in the coming months, with discounts ranging from 33% off Pfizer’s Xeljanz (for ulcerative colitis) to 93% off Cetrotide (for fertility treatments).
How to Use TrumpRx.gov
These offers apply only to cash-paying patients. They are not available to those using health insurance and do not count toward deductibles. Discounted medications can be obtained at participating pharmacies using the coupon codes listed on the website or on manufacturers’ websites.
The website states that patients confirm they are not enrolled in a government insurance program like Medicare and will not seek reimbursement or apply costs to a deductible. They can then receive a coupon for a discount at a participating pharmacy, or in some cases, be directed to the company’s website for the offer.
For More Information
A recent KFF survey shows that two-thirds of U.S. adults are worried about affording health care for themselves and their families, more than they worry about groceries or gas. Over half (56%) expect health care to become even less affordable in the coming year, with prescription drugs making up a significant share of these costs.
Most Americans already have health insurance and may never need Trump Rx, and MFN’s impact remains uncertain, sometimes insurance will still offer the lowest price. To learn more about available discounts, visit the FAQ section at TrumpRx.gov, and continue to monitor any changes to your prescription coverage. Download the bulletin for more details.
