Third Vaccine Dose Authorized for Immunocompromised Individuals

Third Vaccine Dose Authorized for Immunocompromised

1 minute read

The Food and Drug Administration has authorized a third vaccine dose for those individuals who are immunocompromised, to protect them from the highly contagious Delta variant. People with weakened immune systems are more susceptible to diseases and their effects. A third dose may provide improved protection.

Both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will allow for the third dose in certain cases. This may include individuals who had an organ transplant, HIV, or a history of cancer, among other conditions. Individuals should speak to their primary health care physician before determining whether they should seek an additional vaccine dose.

Employers should continue to encourage vaccines among their employees. They should also stay tuned for more vaccine updates in the coming months, including revised vaccination guidelines. Download the bulletin for more details.
