Student Loan Forgiveness Application Launched

Student Loan Forgiveness Application Launched

1 minute read

The student loan forgiveness application is now available on the U.S. Department of Education’s (DOE) website. Qualifying individuals can now apply for up to $20,000 in debt relief. The form is available in English and Spanish, provides information about the program, who qualifies, and how the program works. The application will remain open until December 31, 2023.

The form is simple and can be completed in a few minutes. Borrowers will need to provide their full name, date of birth, Social Security number, phone number, email address, and attestation confirming the individual meets the program’s income requirements.

The DOE recommends applying before mid-November to ensure they receive debt relief before federal student loan payments resume in January 2023. Although no exact timeline on relief has been given, most qualifying borrowers are expected to receive debt relief within weeks.
