Shorter COVID-19 Isolation and Quarantine Recommended

Shorter COVID-19 Isolation and Quarantine Recommended

1.5 minute read

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has changed its recommendations for COVID-19 isolation and quarantine.

For confirmed COVID-19 infections, asymptomatic individuals should isolate for five days from the day they tested positive. After, they should wear a mask around others for an additional five days.

Individuals should quarantine when they have been potentially exposed to COVID-19. Unvaccinated people or those who are more than six months out from their second vaccine dose and not yet boosted should avoid others for five days after exposure. Then, they should wear a mask for an additional five days afterward.

People who received their booster shots don’t need to quarantine but should wear a mask around others for at least 10 days after potential exposure.
