Quarantine Recommendations Updated for Vaccinated Individuals

vaccinated individuals

1.5 minute read

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated their quarantine guidance regarding vaccinated individuals. Fully vaccinated individuals who meet certain criteria won’t be required to quarantine if they are exposed to someone with COVID-19.

Individuals who are exposed to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 are not required to quarantine if they meet all of the following criteria:

  • Are fully vaccinated at least two weeks after their second dose of their two-dose vaccine or at least two weeks have passed since their one dose of a single-dose vaccine
  • Are within three months of receiving the last dose in their vaccine series
  • Have stayed asymptomatic since their current COVID-19 exposure

If an individual doesn’t meet all the criteria above, then they should continue to follow current quarantine guidance. This criteria is not applicable to vaccinated inpatients and health care residents. They should continue to quarantine following a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 exposure.
