According to Nebraska Public Radio, a new report found Nebraska's policymakers only conducted a cost-benefit analysis twice during a four-year period when making budgetary and operational decisions for the state. While a cost-benefit analysis is routinely done by private companies, public sector companies also conduct one to stay within fiscal budgets. Employers may also use the analysis to identify employee policies and benefits. Local news source The Columbus Telegram reported that the Affordable Care Act and the upcoming implementation of state insurance exchanges may drive public sector workers to seek alternative coverage. Kathleen Sebelius, secretary for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, said that the marketplace will help workers receive the right coverage for them and their families, according to The Columbus Telegram.
