Many Americans unaffected by proposed policy glitch fixes

Many Americans have found even a week after President Barack Obama's push for insurers to fix and renew outdated health insurance policies, they have not been affected by the proposed changes.

A number of reasons, including restrictions placed on insurers by regulators in more than five states and other states still deciding their course of action, has put many insured citizens in a limbo between policies that need to be renewed by law and conditions that have halted the process, according to NBC.

Among the states refusing to allow for renewal procedures to proceed is Minnesota, according to the Center on Health Insurance Reforms. Other states have implemented restrictions, such as deadlines for plans of action, insisting premiums do not rise and mandatory notices to policyholders after the state has come to a definitive decision, all while still supporting the motion for renewal.

While recent media reports indicate a growing fury from Americans over the scramble to meet healthcare policy requirements, the truth is most people remain unaffected because they already receive benefits from their employers.

As the debate continues, states will begin determining their plans of action.
