Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Endorsed by FDA

1 minute read

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) advisory panel has endorsed an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for widespread use. Next, the FDA will need to approve the vaccine for EUA. The authorization is likely to be issued within days, giving health care workers and long-term care residents first priority in receiving the vaccine.

The advisory committee who issued the endorsement is composed of scientists, independent doctors, and experts. The endorsement follows a recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for a COVID-19 distribution plan.

It may take months before the vaccine is available to the general public. So, employers should plan for the pandemic to continue and await additional guidance about what a vaccine authorization will mean for workplaces. Download the bulletin for additional information.
