Employer Resources for FFCRA Leave Tax Credits Issued

FFCRA resources

1 minute read

The IRS has issued new resources for employers who provide paid family and sick leave under the American Rescue Plan (ARPA) and the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). A fact sheet and “snapshot” document were published in conjunction with the President’s remarks about calling on employers to help their employees get vaccinated.

Under the ARPA, eligible employers can take a tax credit against their share of Medicare tax to fund the cost of paid employee leave taken for COVID-19 related reasons, including to receive and recover from vaccinations. The tax credit limit is $511 per day and $5,110 total for paid sick leave, and $200 per day and $12,000 total for paid family leave. The credits are available from April 1-September 30, 2021.

Employers can report their paid sick and family leave wages for each quarter on their federal employment tax return.
