The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) recently issued an updated version of Form I-9: Employment Eligibility Verification. This form must be completed by every employer who hires an individual for employment in the United States. Form I-9 is used for verifying the individual’s identity and employment authorization. Employers should start using this updated form effective September 18, 2017.
The updated form contains revisions to the instructions and to the list of acceptable documents an employee can provide. Here’s what’s changing. Employers must continue their compliance with collecting and retaining Form I-9.
