When it comes to offering wellness, employers provide a well-balanced employee benefits package. An attractive package is beneficial for both employee retention and attraction. Here are some of the wellness trends we’re seeing in 2020.
Employers are investing in wellness by offering more holistic plan designs. Gone is the one-size-fits all plan. Now plans look at the treatment of the whole person, physically and emotionally, body and mind. Holistic plans may include access to mental health professionals and assistance for dealing with stress and depression.
Instead of employees interacting with a variety of health care solutions on multiple websites, employers are moving away from point solutions and toward health portals. A tailored health portal is one point of truth for your employees. Employees can log in and review their health plan coverage, choose a doctor, and view resources. Depending on your health portal, you may be able to work with vendors to add additional solutions based upon your employees’ specific needs.
Your organization consists of employees in various life phases. Younger employees may be finishing school and dealing with student loan debt. Older employees may be thinking about retirement. These financial situations can bring about different types of financial stressors. Many public sector employers are offering their employees some type of financial wellness program to help. This may include programs such as tuition reimbursement, financial planning meetings, seminars, loan assistance, etc. It’s popular to offer a variety of services so that anyone in your workforce, regardless of their age or financial situation, can partake.
A common theme between all employees is that they want their work to be meaningful or to make a difference. Many employers offer their employees social enrichment opportunities. This may include things like paid volunteer days, partnering with nonprofit organizations for fundraising, etc.
Using artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace is efficient, cost effective, and becoming more commonplace. Tasks that could once only be completed by humans are now being taken over by computers. AI can help administrators performs tasks like screening resumes, onboarding employees, tracking complex data, and performing other administrative functions. AI can help employees select the right health plan based on their needs by answering a series of questions online. Artificial intelligence is here to stay and may be helping employers and employees alike more in the future.
