Student Loan Forbearance and Eviction Moratorium Extended

President Biden signed multiple executive actions on his first day of presidency including an extension of federal student loan forbearance and an extension of the moratorium on eviction protections.

The President asked the U.S. Department of Education to extend a pause on federal student loan forbearance. Loan payments and interest were expected to expire on January 21st but will now be suspended through the end of September.

Certain eviction protections will be extended until the end of March. The protections were expected to retire at the end of January. The President intends on asking federal agencies to extend foreclosure moratoriums on federally backed mortgages through March 31st.
