President Trump Extends Pandemic Relief

President Trump recently signed an executive order and three memorandums to address pandemic relief since negotiations between lawmakers recently collapsed. The executive actions extend pandemic unemployment benefits, student loan payment deferrals, eviction protections for renters, and payroll tax cuts.

  • Federal unemployment benefits would be $400 per week until December 2020. States would be responsible for covering 25% of costs, or $100 per week, per individual.
  • The federal mortarium on evictions for renters is extended through 2020
  • Federal student loan payments are suspended through the end of 2020.
  • Employers can defer payments for the employee portions of specific payroll taxes through 2020.
