The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) published a new version of its I-9 form, also known as the Employment Verification form. This form is to be exclusively used starting November 1, 2023.The form’s instructions also include clarified procedures for employers that are eligible to utilize remote examination of employees’ documentation. Employers enrolled in e-verify can review documents remotely.
The previous I-9 form had expired on October 31, 2022, but USCIS instructed employers to continue to use the expired form until a new form was published. Beginning November 1, 2023, employers will need to use the new version. Using previous versions of the form after this date will not be in compliance with federal employment eligibility verification requirements. Download the bulletin for more details.
