Health insurance company, Humana Inc., has announced that they will stop providing employer-sponsored medical insurance coverage. This includes fully insured, self-funded, and Federal Employee Health Benefit medical plans. The exit from this line of business will be phased over the next 18 to 24 months.
The decision was made after a strategic review found that the company was no longer positioned to sustainably meet the needs of commercial members over the long term or support the company’s long-term strategic plans. Humana will focus their growth on their government-funded programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and Military and specialty businesses.
