A district judge ruled in favor of President Trump’s final rule which requires hospitals to disclose their negotiated prices starting January 1, 2021.

The American Hospital Association (AHA) tried to file a lawsuit to block the rule’s implementation saying that their First Amendments rights were violated by requiring them to disclose prices.

The final rule will require hospitals to provide easily assessable billing information to patients. Charges would be available online and in a single data file.

Hospitals will be working to put this information online by the January 1, 2021 deadline. The AHA is expected to repeal this ruling which may delay the effective date.
