Each year, more than 3.6 million people miss medical appointments due to transportation issues.1 In an effort to combat this issue, Grand Rounds has announced that it has a new partnership with ride-hailing company Uber Health.
Grand Rounds specializes in connecting employees to high-quality care, thereby reducing healthcare claims. Grand Rounds’ physician assessment data empowers employees to make better overall health care decisions.
Uber Health has been partnering with healthcare organizations to help patients and caregivers get reliable rides to and from their medical appointments. Medical providers can also use Uber Health to transport crucial staff to work.
Grand Rounds care coordinators can book an Uber for an employee while talking with them on the phone. Free rides can encourage employees to see a doctor and keep their appointment. It is also helpful for those employees who don’t know how to use the Uber app or aren’t familiar with Uber. A free ride may also make it easier for an employee to see a higher-quality doctor who is further away from them.
According to Dan Trigub, head of Uber Health, "By teaming up with Grand Rounds, our shared capabilities can simplify how members receive high-quality care, ensuring that we help remove transportation barriers and get members to the right place, at the right time."2
