The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued its COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standards (ETS). The ETS was developed to protect health care and health care support workers from occupational exposure to COVID-19. It's effective June 21, 2021.
Health care employers must develop and implement a COVID-19 plan to identify and control COVID-19 workplace hazards. All ETS requirements besides physical barriers, ventilation, and training must be completed by July 6, 2021. Employers must comply with physical barriers, ventilation, and training by July 21, 2021.
Employers subject to ETS requirements must implement all policies, procedures, and measures to be compliant with the new standard. OSHA's COVID-19 Health Care ETS website contains compliance guidance and resources.
