Connecticut recently received special recognition as the easiest to use and quickest state-run exchange website, and it's seeing more early retirees and older adults shop for insurance benefits.

The state-run health insurance exchanges have been experiencing greater success than the federal-run marketplace, but Connecticut may be one of the most successful. According to a report from independent firm Health Pocket, Connecticut's marketplace, Access Health CT, is the simplest exchange to use, because it requires only four steps to match an enrollee with plan comparisons. The federal marketplace takes four times longer to provide the same results. According to Access Health CT, the report showed the exchange's strategy of being as transparent as possible is paying off for Connecticut residents.

"Providing a stable enrollment system and simplifying the shopping experience were initial priorities for our exchange," James Wadleigh, chief information officer for Access Health CT, said in the press release. "We remain committed to helping consumers with their shopping and enrollment process online, on the phone and through our broker and in-person assister programs."

The easy to use website may be a reason for why Connecticut is seeing high enrollment from middle-aged and older residents. According to The Associated Press, more mature adults are signing up for coverage through Access Health CT than younger Americans.
