OSHA and CDC Guidance for Fully Vaccinated Individuals

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has announced that they have temporarily adopted the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) public health recommendations for fully vaccinated individuals while they update their own workplace safety guidelines.

According to the CDC, fully vaccinated people can:

• Refrain from routine screening testing if feasible.
• Refrain from testing or quarantining following a known exposure, if asymptomatic.
• Resume activities without wearing masks or physically distance, except where required by law or business/workplace guidance.

Guidance also states that fully vaccinated people should continue to get tested if they experience COVID-19 symptoms and follow health department and CDC travel recommendations.

Employers should review the CDC’s recommendations for fully vaccinated individuals. Subject to local or state requirements, employers may choose whether to enforce social distancing and mask requirements for fully vaccinated people. Employers should also monitor OSHA’s communications to learn about updated guidance once published.
