The first quarterly Axios-Ipsos American Health Index surveyed Americans about health-related behaviors.

Survey Results

Half of Americans surveyed said that the government’s number one health priority should be lowering costs for prescription drugs and health care. Many people are feeling the strain of their wallet as they make health-related decisions. Researching cures for major diseases and reducing gun deaths, both at 14%, came in second place.

The greatest public health threats were opioids and fentanyl (26%), obesity (21%), and access to firearms and guns (17%).

Most Americans reported overall good health, including financial and emotional. The following items were ranked as “very good”, diet (21%), physical health (27%), and personal finances (29%).

Employers should continue to monitor health care trends, utilization, and spending. Download the bulletin for more details.
