HealthCare.gov users will receive welcome back letters

Americans who couldn't create an account or sign up for insurance benefits through the federal exchange website will soon receive word to try again.

According to Kaiser Health News, improvements to the site's infrastructure have been completed and enhancements have been made to provide a better user experience for Americans trying to use the federal marketplace site, HealthCare.gov. Julie Bataille, director of communications for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, announced in a blog post that users who had technical difficulties when they tried to begin or complete their applications on the sites will receive emails that the site is back up and running.

In the post, Bataille outlined the steps the government took to improve the website, starting with the hardware and software issues that were the main causes of the problems. From installing additional storage units to thorough testing of the site, Bataille wrote the vast number of glitches on the site have now been remedied.

"Today we're beginning to send messages to those consumers who had account creation issues to let them know they can now try again," Bataille wrote. "And we're providing them with instructions about how to get enrolled - and some tips."

According to Kaiser Health News, with enrollment numbers already low, the fixes couldn't come soon enough.
