CT exchange to have a mobile app

Residents in Connecticut will be able to sign up for health insurance benefits during the next open enrollment period through a mobile app version of the state's exchange, Access HealthCT.

According to online news source The Day, Access HealthCT has already started providing a free app to residents to give them another way to enroll for insurance benefits through the site. The news source reported the app will have nearly all of the features of the current site, only in an on-the-go, easy-to-use format, and came about after 25 percent of enrollees accessed the exchange's site through their devices.

The app will allow residents to remain anonymous when they are looking for health plans on Access HealthCT, but it won't be possible for people to finish their applications on the app, The CT Mirror reported. However, residents can upload verification documents.

The app is already available for iPhones with iOS 6 or later operating systems, and has been downloaded at least 120 times, despite the app not having much publicity. The app will soon be out for Android and iPads. There is also a Spanish-language version of the app in development, the news source reported.
