ACA minimum health plan requirements may be delayed once more

According to Fox News, the Obama administration is expected to postpone certain provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to allow insurers to keep selling health plans that do not meet the law's minimum requirements for just one more year. For Americans still seeking affordable insurance benefits, the extension of the "keep your plan" fix offered by President Barack Obama back in November may be advantageous. However, it is only a one-year moratorium, according to a blog on The Hill.

Millions of Americans were told late last year their insurers would be cancelling their health plans because of the ACA's minimum requirements, despite the president previously stating such a thing would not happen. President Obama offered a solution to resolve the issue at the time by asking states and insurers to keep the plans for another year.

"I personally believe, even if it takes a change in the law, the president should honor the commitment the federal government made to those people and let them keep what they got," former President Bill Clinton said at the time, according to The Hill blog.

However, The Hill noted while the postponement is beneficial for Americans, it may cause additional issues for midterm elections, which are to take place this year.
