On June 18, 2025, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas vacated most of the HIPAA Reproductive Health Care Privacy Rule introduced in 2024. This rule aimed to enhance privacy protections for reproductive health information. While the majority of the rule has been overturned, some requirements related to substance use disorder patient records remain in effect until February 16, 2026.
